Tax Breaks for Paying Cash in Korea

If you've ever been shopping in Korea, you've seen this sticker on a cash register.  Every registered retailer in sunny Daehan Minguk should have this in fact.  The cash receipt allows you to get a rebate on the value added tax charged on all product sales.  As foreigners, though, it is a bit challenging to take advantage of this system. It is possible, and this article from Joongang Daily tells you how.  It is likely, however, that your alien ID number isn't registered properly, which means you'll need to head over to Ye Old Gu Tax Office with your best Korean buddy and get registered in the tax system.
